Seasonal forecasts look very different from traditional short-range forecasts. These are the two main differences:

• seasonal forecasts cover the meteorological elements mean values for 3 months;
• seasonal forecasts are in terms of probability.

NIMH issues a synthesis of the seasonal forecasts from several leading world centres.

   Autumn (September-October-November): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal and sesonal rainfall near normal. Autumn 2026 is likely to be similar to autumn 2025 or with less precipitation.

    Winter (December-January-February): With mean seasonal temperature and sesonal rainfall near or above normal. Winter 2026/2027 is likely to be similar to winter 2025/2026.
