Seasonal forecasts look very different from traditional short-range forecasts. These are the two main differences:

• seasonal forecasts cover the meteorological elements mean values for 3 months;
• seasonal forecasts are in terms of probability.

NIMH issues a synthesis of the seasonal forecasts from several leading world centres.

   Autumn (September-October-November): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal and seasonal rainfall near or below normal. Autumn 2025 is likely to be similar to autumn 2024.

   Winter (December-January-February): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal. The three categories below, near, and above normal are equaly likely for the seasonal rainfall/snowfall. Winter 2025/2026 is likely to be similar to winter 2024/2025.
