Seasonal Forecast for Bulgaria

Seasonal forecasts look very different from traditional short-range forecasts. These are the two main differences:

  • seasonal forecasts cover the meteorological elements mean values for 3 months;
  • seasonal forecasts are in terms of probability.

NIMH issues a synthesis of the seasonal forecasts from several leading world centres.

 Autumn (September-October-November): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal and seasonal rainfall near normal. Autumn 2020 is likely to be similar to autumn 2019 or to be less warm and with more precipitation.

Winter (December-January-February): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal. All categories below, near, and above normal for the seasonal amount of precipitation are equally likely. Nevertheless it is likely that winter 2020/21 would be similarly or less warm than winter 2019/20 and with similar or bigger seasonal amount of precipitation.

The seasonal forecast is updated every month in the interval 27-th-30-th
